GOD'S LOVE AS:
NOURISHMENT
RECONCILIATION
TRANSFORMATION
ABIDING PRESENCE
LIBERATION
IN JESUS CHRIST
As Catholic adults, we have lived through unprecedented church reform in the last forty years. We are called to participate actively in the Eucharist and the life of the Church.
The LIFE IN THE EUCHARIST SEMINAR (LITE) was developed to help us learn more about our roles as active participants in the Eucharist. We can express our involvement in three basic ways: active participation in the Mass, prayer of contemplation in eucharistic adoration and reaching out to the needs of our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
The LITE seminar is ideally presented by a team of lay adults under the direction of The Rev. William R. Fickel, SSS.
Life in the Eucharist Seminar
The LIFE IN THE EUCHARIST SEMINAR (L.I.T.E.) is designed to introduce a parish community to contemporary Eucharistic theology and spirituality.
The seminar's primary goal is to draw a parish into deeper appreciation and understanding of the total Eucharistic Mystery.
LITE provides an opportunity for Catholics to share their faith and their diverse understanding and awareness of the Eucharist.
The entire experience invites the participants to explore their collective wisdom and apply it to their present life-situation.
Seminar Structure
The LIFE IN THE EUCHARIST SEMINAR addresses five specific themes with a focus on three essential elements of Eucharistic spirituality - Celebration, Contemplation, and Communion with the suffering.
CELEBRATION
Session 1: Eucharist: God's love as NOURISHMENT in Jesus Christ
Session 2: Eucharist: God's love as RECONCILIATION in Jesus Christ
Session 3: Eucharist: God's love as TRANSFORMATION in Jesus Christ
CONTEMPLATION
Session 4: Eucharist: God's love in the ABIDING PRESENCE of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist

Session 5: Eucharist: God's Love as LIBERATION in Jesus Christ
Overall, the sessions are structured to allow participants to share their personal experiences in small groups and discuss the session themes as part of a large group.
Presentations on each of the five themes of Nourishment, Reconciliation, Transformation, Abiding Presence, and Liberation are made by LITE team members who will present the seminar.
History of the LITE Seminar
Blessed Sacrament Father Robert Rousseau, initially developed and presented the LITE Seminar in 1989. In 1990, he formed and trained the first LITE lay team who are still actively giving the seminar. Since that time, the seminar has been given all over the world and lay people have been trained to present the seminar in many countries worldwide. There are currently about forty lay teams carrying on the tradition of sharing their experiences of Eucharist with their fellow Catholics.
In 1997, at the invitation of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses, Father Bob directed a group of representatives of lay LITE teams throughout the world in giving the seminar in Wroclaw, Poland at the 46th International Eucharistic Congress.
Cost of the LITE Seminar
The basic cost of having the seminar in your parish includes materials, travel and lodging for the LITE team presenters and a modest stipend so that this ministry can continue in the Church. Please call to schedule a seminar in your parish or for exact costs.
