Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing:
Programs and Resources

The following programs are available to you through the Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing:

The Life In The Eucharist Seminar [LITE Seminar]

This is an adult education program that examines the three essential elements of contemporary Eucharistic spirituality: celebration (the Mass), contemplation (adoration), and communion (justice). The Eucharistic mystery is approached through five interpretative lenses: God's love as nourishment, reconciliation, transformation, abiding presence, and liberation in the person of Jesus Christ. The seminar usually is conducted over a weekend beginning Friday evening and ending Sunday around 2 p.m. The LITE seminar is ideal for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, readers, music ministers, adorers, catechists, and any Catholic adult interested in deepening his/her understanding of the Eucharistic mystery.

The Life In The Eucharist Seminar II

A deepening of LITE through an examination of the Old Testament background to the Eucharist. It follows the same format as the LITE Seminar I.

The Team Training Program for LITE

A program which trains and forms LITE seminar leaders to continue offering the seminar to other groups of Catholic adults. There are more than 20 fully trained LITE lay teams conducting the seminar in Australia, Europe, the Philippines, and the United States.

Names and phone numbers of coordinators in these countries can be obtained by calling the Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing at (713) 661-3958 and asking for Nancy MacRoberts or Father William Fickel, SSS.

The Eucharistic Parish Renewal

Parish missions and Eucharisma led by Father William Fickel, SSS. They begin with the weekend Masses and end with a closing Eucharist on the following Wednesday. Flexibility is the key to these. Fr. Bill likes to design the mission's structure and content with the pastor and/or with his pastoral associates.

The Eucharist and Contemplative Communion Retreat

Specially designed for priests, religious, and lay people who are interested in deepening their own commitment to prayer while learning about and practicing a number of contemplative prayer forms (lectio divina , centering prayer, and Eucharistic adoration). This retreat is given by Fr. Bill. It has been very successful as a retreat for clergy and has been given to the priests of Portland, ME; Pueblo, CO; San Antonio, TX; and St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.

The Eymard Novena

A novena to celebrate the life of the founder of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and the Apostle of the Eucharist - Saint Peter Julian Eymard. Preached by Brother Michael Perez, SSS (se habla español), this novena is intended primarily for parishes and city center shrines administered by the Blessed Sacrament Community. It can be given at two different times during the year: in late January through early February and concluding on February 5, St. Peter Julian's date of baptism; or in late July through early August concluding on August 2, the liturgical feast of St. Peter Julian on the universal calendar of the Church. A booking for the Eymard Novena must be arranged two years in advance. The Eymard Novena has been preached in Glasgow, Scotland; Liverpool, England; and Dublin, Ireland.

Br. Michael Perez, SSS, is based out of Chicago, and he can be reached at (312) 738-4070
