Daily Eucharistic Reflections

March 23, 2024

In the Gospel reading today, the Jews planned to kill Jesus over their concern for their land and their nation. Passover was approaching, and the Jews were wondering whether Jesus would come to the feast or not so they might arrest him.

I was single until my late 20s and did not live at home. My mother invited me every year to come to the feast. The feast is Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter. I always came and never missed a feast, nor did my three brothers. We celebrated together and enjoyed food and fellowship.

Yesteryear, today, and forever, Jesus is the feast for Roman Catholics and Christians everywhere. He always calls us to the feast, just as my mother did. He calls us to receive him in the Eucharist and his word daily. We could not join together and feast on the Lord in the Eucharist during the pandemic. Many have not returned.

Just as my mother invited me to the feast, those who have not returned to the Eucharist or have been away for a while may be waiting for an invitation. Is there someone that you can invite to the feast being offered by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this Sunday? May He fill your heart and theirs with joy.

Father Eymard stated, “Live on the divine Eucharist like the Hebrews did on the manna.” (A Year With Fr. Eymard by Fr. Erasto Fernandez SSS).

Let Us Pray:

Dear heavenly Father, please continue to invite us to feast on you in the Eucharist and your word. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
