Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

The annual celebration of the solemnity of The Body and Blood of Christ, known for generations by the Latin words Corpus Christi, is unquestionably for our Eymardian family and, indeed, for the entire Church, one of the liturgical highlights of the year. This feast day is special this year as the Church in the United States prepares for a National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana, during this period of Eucharistic revival.

The Eucharistic Congress is not the end of this journey. It continues in a Year of Going Out on Mission, from July 21 to Pentecost 2025. At the Congress, the participants will be empowered and sent forth as Eucharistic missionaries.

Of course, we don’t need to wait to become Eucharistic missionaries. Our common rules as Religious and Associates of the Blessed Sacrament and the witness and teachings of Saint Eymard ignite the fire that impels us to be such people. Our charism as a Eucharistic family excites us to play a role in this great adventure in our local parishes and beyond.

Recognizing that the past few years have significantly impacted our Church and the rest of the world, a new challenge confronts us, and a new mission awaits us. Our response will be to harness the inspiration forged in the original call and mission of Our Founder and given to us in our Rules: “Our ideal is to live the mystery of the Eucharist fully and to make known its meaning.” There is a great need to help people to understand the Eucharist. With the help of the Spirit, we can meet that challenge.

Let Us Pray:

O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment thine.
