Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul, Apostle
I absolutely love how the Catholic Church beautifully combines the readings from the Old Testament with the New Testament.
If you are new to these Eucharistic Reflections, I recommend you pray about God opening your heart and mind to understand the readings of the day; read all of the readings and then read the reflection. It is a great daily habit to have.
Many people, along their life journey, have converted to Christianity from some other religion or way of life. Many also are raised in the Church and have a conversion from an obligation of religion based on Jesus and his teachings going through the motions to a relationship with Jesus that is vibrant and joyous.
Jesus is real. Saint Paul’s life and writings are proof enough that a relationship with Jesus Christ changes hearts and lives. This beloved Saint Paul could not tell enough people about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He spread the Good News like no other, obedient to the words in Acts 22:15.
And for us who believe in Jesus and his teachings, we, too, must follow the command from Mark 16:15 to go into the whole world and tell the Good News of Jesus.
In Father Peter Julian Eymard’s words: “A human person must become so docile to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, entirely keeping his free will, that it can be said that Christ ‘acts’ in him, bringing about an extension of the Incarnation. A person who lives this gift of self is a true adorer.” (From A Year with Father Eymard, by Father Erasto Fernandez SSS)
Let Us Pray:
Dear heavenly Father, we ask that you draw our hearts nearer to yours. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
