A deep secret to a deep friend

The transfiguration event ends with a command from Jesus not to tell anyone of all they had seen and heard until He had risen from the dead. The story of his passion and death was not easy for him to let out. It took him a lot of courage. He even first sought divine intervention on the mountain. It was so deep that he only had to tell it to those who were trusted friends. However, his deep friends did not carry the weight of the secret of his death.

After witnessing the transfiguration and testing a prefiguration of the new kingdom long awaited. The disciples were anxious about taking place in the kingdom. It is interesting to analyze their reaction. Without taking time to share the emotions of Jesus, they continue with their anxiety about taking unique positions in the kingdom they thought was yet to be realized. This could be better understood through a scenario: after being diagnosed with stage four cancer, you decide to share with your closest friends, and all they do is think of how they are to share your belongings. It hurts. Jesus was broken by their diversion of spirit. This text shows us how close we are to Jesus. Jesus has decided to share with us something so personal. He needs our emotional presence. May this deep secret help us be emotionally present to Christ to deepen our friendship. Imagine Jesus sharing with you his secrets and important things in your life.

Let us pray:

Most Holy Father, we thank you for your Son who takes us as deep friends. May he continue sharing with us the mysteries of our redemption.
