Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Visitation is an explosion of joy. The thought of Mary carrying the Christ Child in her womb, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, inspires a song of praise in her heart. We can imagine our blessed mother in her travels to Elizabeth, anticipating the joy of seeing her cousin and then the embrace. That moment brought more excellent life to John the Baptist, the encounter with Christ.

So, it is for us to walk with Mary down the aisle of our Churches to receive the daily bread, our daily Eucharist. Our visitation to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, brings forth grace upon grace. Jesus’s visitation to us is to be shared with others. When we make an effort to see someone, to walk the extra mile, a gift comes our way.

A mother carries her child in her womb, feeds, and loves it. The first one to love the child is its mother. The Good Lord is like that. He carried us in his heart, filled us with blessings, pressing us lovingly against his heart. In his mercy, God was delighted to love us. (Saint Peter Julian, 1866 Retreat to the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament)

Let Us Pray:

Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, you are here for us, not in some far-off place; you are here for us during every Liturgy, helping us to receive Jesus in the virtues of your love. We thank you for guiding us to your Son.
