What I wouldn’t give for another Saturday morning, sharing a cup of coffee with my mom. Whether over the phone or in person, those moments were precious. She had a fantastic way of easing my worries, always offering the same gentle advice: “Christine, just wait, pray, and give it to God. These things have a way of working themselves out.”
After she was gone, life threw bigger challenges my way. Yet, I found myself remembering my mom’s words, and I became less worried and less anxious, knowing that surrendering my burdens to God required complete trust. Many times, I would imagine myself pouring my heart out at Jesus’ feet, saying, “Here — take this. I don’t want to do this anymore.”
God reminds us that this world isn’t our ultimate concern; our focus should be on growing closer to Him. Still, when injustice unfolds before our eyes, it’s difficult not to question, Where is the justice? Where is God?
People can be cruel, thoughtless, and at times downright heartless, never pausing to see the harm they’ve caused.
Tomorrow will unfold as it will, and our duty remains the same—to stay vigilant and strive to act in ways that honor God’s will, not ours. Even when faced with seeing the darkness in people, we must keep our hearts steady in faith, choosing kindness and righteousness, and, as difficult as it may be, forgiveness.
As the Gospel says, “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its evil.”
Let Us Pray:
Lord, through the Eucharist, we pray that you give us the strength to relinquish our control. To trust. To remember this world is but a blink and to look forward to your Kingdom.
