Daily Eucharistic Reflections

November 11, 2025

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the servant who, after working in the field, returns to the Master’s house, not to rest, but to serve yet again. The servant shows no lofty expectation for immediate praise or recompense for doing what amounts to his duty. He continues to do what is required—what is expected of his role. And our Lord Jesus tells us directly: “When you have done all you have been commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.’”

This is not a dismissal of our worth. It is a call to humility—a reminder that our service is not transactional, but relational. We do not serve for applause, but because love compels us. We do not earn grace; we respond to it through our actions. Our toil is expected.

In the Eucharist, we encounter this mystery. Christ, the true Servant, offers himself without condition. He does not wait for us to be worthy. He simply gives himself. And in receiving Him, we are invited to do likewise—to serve without counting, to love without measure, to labor without seeking reward.

Our work of quiet fidelity is a mirror of this Gospel. Most of our work is hidden. Our

offerings are small, but let us make them with sincerity, that through this hidden reality, the heart of Christ may be revealed.

Let us ask ourselves: Do we willingly serve with joy, even when unnoticed? Do we labor with love, even when tired? Do we offer ourselves, not for recognition, but for communion? Are we, like Christ Eucharistic, broken and shared?

May our daily acts—however small—become humble prayers of thanksgiving. May we learn to say, not with resignation, but with love and reverence: “We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.”

Let us pray:

Lord Jesus, teach us to serve with humility and joy. May we never seek praise, but only to be in your presence. Help us to labor in love, to offer our time and gifts without condition, and to find peace in knowing that You see what others do not. May our hidden acts of kindness always reveal your grace. Amen.
