In the first reading, 1 John 1:1-4, Saint John points out some of the facts of Jesus. What we have heard, seen with our eyes, looked upon, and touched with our hands; all of this concerns the Word of life.
He goes on to say what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you; so that you also will have fellowship with the Father and with the Son, Jesus Christ, in whom we have eternal life, and that our joy may be complete. Sign me up!!! Joy is complete and eternal life.
I am a cradle CATHOLIC and did not know Jesus until I was 38 years old. I did not know you could put the letters of ‘Catholic’ together in this way to express the belief that focusing on Jesus makes life full and complete. Christ At The Heart Our Life Is Complete…CATHOLIC.
We have nothing to lose and everything to gain here and in the next life…anything of eternal and lasting consequences and value. Father Eymard stated to Mme. Lepage in March 1867: “We need to live in thanksgiving which supposes a soul experiencing the joy of the Lord’s gifts and blessings.” (Taken from A Year With Fr. Eymard by Father Erasto Fernandez SSS).
Let Us Pray:
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your patience with us as we journey toward you, seeking you above all else. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
