Dear Friends,
It was our parents who introduced us to our savior Jesus, and to his parents, Mary and Joseph, when they brought us to baptism, confirmation, and marriage in the catholic church. They were helping us build a personal relationship with the Triune God of Father, Son and Spirit, a relationship that ensures our spiritual salvation and eternal life with God in heaven. So many reasons to honor our Moms and Dads if we are fortunate to still have them with us.
Our parents are part of a multitude of people who have made a profound impact in helping us become the person we are today. Others in this group might well include the priests, nuns, teachers, coaches, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and special friends who made lasting impressions on our personalities, our religious beliefs and career paths. We are forever grateful for their influence on our lives!
Shops and malls are already reminding us that Mother’s and Father’s Day are soon approaching. Cards, flowers, gifts, and a personal visit are high on our list of ways to honor and show appreciation for the gift of life our parents so lovingly gave us, and the financial and moral support they generously offered to help us pursue our goals in life.
Here in Cleveland, at the Shrine of Saint Ann, the mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus, we will pray for all of you who have donated so generously over the years to the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and to our mission to spread devotion to the sacrament of Eucharist through Holy Communion and Adoration. We are grateful for any support you may be able to give us this time of year.
Praying you have happy and peaceful days ahead, I am
Sincerely yours in Good Saint Ann,
Father Roger Bourgeois, SSS
Chaplain
