Daily Eucharistic Reflections

April 25, 2026

To prepare for Lent back in early February, I went to a priest to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. To send me on my way, he told me to read the Litany of Humility every day. I had not shared this with my wife because I could not stand reading the Litany of Humility. In her women’s Bible study last night, a participant brought up this litany, and Lee asked me if I had ever heard of it.

Soon after that discussion on humility, I told Lee I was going to write my April Eucharistic Reflection. Well, the epistle today, which I am sure you all read, is 1 Peter 5:5b-14, and a good portion of it is on humility and humbling ourselves before God.

My response to people in conversation often comes from my pride. God in his Word says “Be holy, for I am holy. So, in thought, word, deed, and action, let us take Jesus seriously at his Word. Make it a regular habit to read the Litany of Humility. Tell me if you like it.

Father Eymard stated, “Humility and mortification are the fruit of the cross.” (Taken from A Year with Fr. Eymard by Fr. Erasto Fernandez, SSS.)

Let us Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to humble ourselves before you in all things of life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
