Daily Eucharistic Reflections

September 28, 2024

Today, I would like us to focus on the theme of the responsorial psalm. “In every age, O Lord, you have been our refuge.”

Everyone’s life is different, but every life has its trials, crises, upsets, and hard times. Take five minutes or more and review your life and see how true this verse in Psalm 90 is. As I look over my life, I see where God has been there for me…. loss of house as a young child, almost thrown out of college for cheating, overdose in college, totaled a car, rare disease in my 40s, robbery of our home, wayward son … and God was always there as a refuge. There isn’t anything our Lord has not gotten us through.

Of course, there are many more joys in life generally, but as Ecclesiastes states, we may take them for granted or expect them. God is always there for us in the good and the hard days. We can rest in a sovereign Lord who filters everything through his loving hands. Let us not worry or be anxious. Give it all to Jesus. He is our refuge no matter what pain or suffering you are going through. Rest in him, focus on him and not your trial.

Father Eymard leads us to the Lord in a letter written to Mme. Josephine Gourd in August 1867. “Here is my prescription: A head free of all worries, entirely given to the Will of God at every moment.” (Taken from A Year with Father Eymard by Fr. Erasto Fernandez SSS)

Let Us Pray:

Dear heavenly Father, help us to remember your Son Jesus in all things at all times for his glory and our good and the good of all humanity. In your name, Jesus. Amen.
