Daily Eucharistic Reflections

October 26, 2024

Take time to read Ephesians 4:7-16…. slowly. These verses tell us that we are to build up the body of Christ to attain unity of faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Take a moment and ask yourself – am I doing this?

Am I helping my spouse, children, neighbor, and friends not to be tossed by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery in the interests of deceitful scheming? We are to tell everyone about Jesus according to Acts 1:8, Colossians 1:28, and other verses in the Bible. Take a moment and ask yourself – am I doing this?

Living the truth in love, we should grow in every way into him Christ…! Take a moment and ask yourself, am I doing this? I often do my to-do list and cross each item off until it is accomplished. Many days, I “fit” Jesus in amongst that to-do list. How conscious are we of Jesus throughout our busy day? Can I live as a Christian all day or occasionally through my day?

Several of my friends have died recently, and I ask myself many questions. The most challenging two questions for me are: did I help or hinder them from knowing Jesus? Are they in heaven?

In Father Eymard’s notes from May 1845, he shares: “Now this is what I must be for my neighbors, the word of Christ.”

Let Us Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, help us all to be about your kingdom and work in telling others about your son Jesus. In the end, this is all that matters. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
