Daily Eucharistic Reflections

October 10, 2025

Jesus draws a crowd to witness him casting out a demon from a man who was mute. This healing miracle demonstrates Jesus’ power over evil spirits. The man’s physical condition, being unable to speak, symbolizes the spiritual condition of those who are oppressed by dark forces. Through this healing, Jesus shows his compassion and his desire to bring freedom and restoration to those who are suffering.

These healing points refer to Jesus’ mission to bring liberation to the oppressed and to demonstrate the Kingdom of God through miraculous signs. The Pharisees accused Jesus of using demonic powers to perform miracles. The reality is that their hardened hearts and refusal to see the truth reveal their spiritual blindness and resistance to accepting Jesus as the promised Messiah.

Jesus responds to the Pharisees’ accusations with the absurdity of Satan casting out his demons, which would signify division and chaos within the kingdom of darkness. Instead, Jesus asserts that it is through the finger of God, the Holy Spirit, that he can perform exorcisms and miracles. Jesus refutes the Pharisees’ claims and highlights the spiritual battle between the forces of good and evil.

This same battle continues in the world and is experienced in the power of the Eucharist, which Jesus achieves through his sacrificial death and resurrection. It conveys a timeless message of hope and assurance for believers, reminding them that Jesus has already triumphed over the powers of darkness.

In the Eucharist, we experience the miraculous healing power of Christ’s authority, compassion, and victory over evil. The great vision of Peter Julian Eymard was to make known the love of God. He challenges people to examine their hearts and beliefs, urging them to choose faith over doubt and to recognize Jesus as the source of true deliverance and salvation. Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, and the ultimate conqueror of sin and death.

Let us pray:

Deliver us, Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day. That free from sin, we may worship you in peace and sincerity of heart. Amen.
