In today’s readings, we see that when Naaman finally listened to the word of God, as told to him by the prophet Elisha. His leprosy was cured in the river Jordan. He was made clean again in body and soul.

Our Lord Jesus wants to set us free from all our sins so that we can relate to and fully love those around us. If we just stop and listen to him, he will cleanse and heal us.

If we want to walk in freedom and grow in love and holiness, then we must humbly renounce our sinful ways and submit to Christ’s instruction and healing discipline in our lives. Scripture tells us that the Lord disciplines us for our good that we may share his holiness (Hebrews 12:10). Do you want the Lord Jesus to set you free and make you whole again? Ask him to show you the way to walk in his healing love and truth.

“Lord Jesus, teach me to love your ways that I may be quick to renounce sin and willfulness in my life. Make me whole and clean again so that I may delight to do your will.” (Don Schwager)

One day, young Peter Julian Eymard, just five years of age, wandered off from the family home. His sister and half-sister searched frantically for the boy and finally found him in the parish church, standing on a stool with his ear next to the tabernacle of the high altar. When they asked Peter Julian what he was doing, he simply answered, “I am here listening to Jesus.”

Let us pray that we find Jesus in our silence and, like Eymard, we really listen to Him. Our Lord, we pray through the intercession of Saint Eymard that you strengthen us throughout our days to be witnesses to the Holy Eucharist.
