Priest, prophet, and king, such are the titles which baptism confers upon us. The first letter of Peter reads like a post-baptismal exhortation, reminding new Christians of their dignity and responsibilities. Have you ever spent any time reflecting on your baptismal priesthood?

You are a royal priesthood. How does it differ from the ministerial priesthood of the ordained priest? How are we called to offer sacrifice? How are we part of the spiritual edifice, the Church? – “The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.”

Each time we participate in the eucharistic sacrifice, we bring our recent life experiences, trials, blessings, and efforts. They become part of the offertory. They are offered to God and sanctified in the liturgical event, offered by the ordained minister together with those of all God’s people, transformed and presented to God.

Each time we join in the Eucharist, we offer our daily experiences to God, who sanctifies and transforms them into blessings. Though we may not always perceive God’s work clearly, His grace can illuminate and transform our lives.

Let Us Pray:

Lord, grant that I may see the wonders of your love, the transforming effect of your graces. Graciously accept my daily offerings, and so they may fulfill their intended purpose.
