Daily Eucharistic Reflections

July 16, 2026

In today’s Gospel, Jesus says to us: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

This is not only an invitation. It is a word that comes from the loving heart of the Lord. He knows that we are tired. He sees the burdens we carry in our hearts. There are burdens outside of us: work, family, sickness, and responsibilities. But there are also burdens within us: anxiety, sin, disappointment, loneliness, and wounds that are not easy to speak about.

When we do not know where to turn, the Lord reminds us that in him we can find true rest.

The reading from the Book of Isaiah also describes a soul longing for the Lord: “My soul yearns for you in the night.” We can try many things by our own strength, but we cannot bring about salvation by ourselves. True peace is a gift from God. He alone is the One who makes the dead live, and those who lie in the dust awake and sing.

Jesus says: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of

heart.” He teaches us how to carry our burdens with love, meekness, and humility. When there is love, the yoke becomes easy. When the Lord walks with us, the burden becomes lighter.

May the Lord help us come to him each day, especially when we are tired and weak. May we find in him the peace that the world cannot give.

Let Us Pray:

Lord Jesus, I thank you for comforting me, strengthening me, and walking with me. Please help me never to be separated from you, especially when I am weak and sinful. Amen.
