Planting Season

Every gardener knows … There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

It would be foolhardy to drop seeds in the heat of summer without water. Seed packets’ directions indicate needed sun exposure, water, and planting times. Follow the directions for a favorable outcome. And the same approach for following a recipe.

Regardless of the care and feeding, nature takes a beating in storms, fires, and insect infestations. It’s a survival of the fittest. Yet nature has its own life force to survive. It’s no wonder that Jesus uses a mustard seed to illustrate that from a small, simple seed, a strong tree will grow.

Let’s call this God-force. From the seemingly insignificant comes greatness in God’s eyes. It’s quite a bit to live up to, but God is within us, and all things are possible.

It’s always planting season.

Prayer:

Sing to him a new song; skillfully play with joyful chant. For the Lord’s word is upright; all his works are trustworthy. He loves justice and right. The earth is full of the mercy of the Lord. (Psalm 33:3-5)
