Course of Study on Saint Peter Julian Eymard
Program of Ongoing Formation for Associates of the Blessed Sacrament
A Course of Study on the Life and Writings of Saint Peter Julian Eymard, the Apostle of the Eucharist
The Course of Study is a resource guide on Saint Peter Julian Eymard, his life, teaching, and key themes at the heart of his spiritual journey. It was conceived as a follow-up resource for the women and men who have gone through the formation program to be Associates of the Blessed Sacrament, or participated in a Life in the Eucharist program, as well as groups of parishioners simply interested in knowing more about the founder of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.
The Course of Study develops twelve themes and consists of seventeen sessions, intended to be scheduled on a monthly basis. Sessions II through VIII are divided into two parts. Each session is designed to take one and a half hours. The format consists of readings, prayer, a teaching on the topic, small and large group discussion (sharing faith) based on prepared questions.
The Course of Study utilizes three primary sources as suppliments: “May God Be Praised!” (General Editor: James W. Brown) published in 2013, The Eucharist and Saint Peter Julian Eymard by Bernard Camire, SSS, published in 2011, and Tomorrow Will Be Too Late by Norman Pelletier, SSS, published in 1992. Readings are also drawn from the writings of Eymardian scholars Andre Guitton, SSS, Paul Bernier, SSS, and Catherine Marie Caron, SSS.
