Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of the Lord
The Son of Man is the Son of God. He is risen! Jesus promised he would die and rise again. Jesus, a human and a divinity, can be available till the end of the world. He is in heaven, and the Paschal Mystery is done.
Easter is beautiful because the Mass brings joy, peace, and love. Easter celebrates the victory of Jesus over the devil. Easter morning is beautiful because Christians celebrate the highest feast of the year. And the triumph of Jesus, the angels, and the saints over the devil. Easter morning is beautiful because it is love, joy, and peace in the life of Christians.
Mary Magdala is the Apostle of the Apostles; she weeps and runs to Peter and John to tell them that the tomb is empty. John enters the tomb, sees the burial clothes, and believes. The Apostles see the Risen Lord. Jesus calls Mary, she calls him “Rabbouni.” Jesus tells her he has not yet ascended to the Father. He will go to his Father and theirs. The Holy Spirit comes at Pentecost, the Church is born, and we believe.
Saint Peter Julian Eymard asks: What is the Eucharist? He answers. It is the supreme gift of love; it is Jesus Christ putting himself who is going to be at the disposal of man until the end of the world. And this without conditions and without any defense other than his love. (A Thought for Every Day, January 2, page 15)
Prayer:
Look upon your Church, Oh God, with unfailing love and favor, so that, renewed by the pascal mysteries, she may come to the glory of the resurrection. Through Christ our Lord, Amen. (Prayer After Communion).
