13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
The faith of Jairus is inspiring. He believed Jesus could heal his daughter. Do not be afraid. The child is not dead but asleep. I say to you, arise! Give her something to eat. The faith of Jairus reminds us of the power of faith, of believing God’s word and trusting him. Faith is a virtue, a super and theological virtue. Faith is necessary for salvation. Given by God, it saves us. The faith we give to God is belief, trust, and living with God.
Our faith journey begins with Baptism, which initiates us to live with Jesus. We are set on the path to live forever in heaven in the heart of the love of Jesus Christ. In the Eucharist, we receive his grace, mercy, and love. Through the flesh of Jesus in the Eucharist, our flesh is transformed grace upon grace. Faith enables us to know that the Eucharist is not a thing; it is a person, a person who is both human and divine, the Son of God.
